JenniferD > May 31, 2009 I am giving you a break from dance photos today. ;) I still haven't gone through them all. There are two recitals worth of finalie photos to process and edit yet.

This was taken at the arboretum a few weeks ago.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday.
JenniferD > May 29, 2009 Nationals Bound!

This is the routine (lyrical) Emilys dance team/s did the best on in the regional competitions. They scored first place Platinum in the regional competition that is now sending them to nationas. They will be competeing in nationals in early July. Wish them luck.?

Here is the video of the routine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZS3L0no3xmU&feature=channel_page

Posting kind of late today - wasn't feeling well at all last night - I think we may have had some bad chinese take out last night.
JenniferD > May 28, 2009 This is a collage (best viewed xtra large) I made from the photos I took of Emily's HipHop team. This routine is filled with a lot of emotion and fun. The last scene is a fight between two of the girls - those are the photos featured in the collage.

Here is a link to the video if anyone wants to see it. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGrgSuxyNIg
JenniferD > May 27, 2009. Another ballet shot of Emily. Tomorrow will be a different routine - promise. ;)

Thanks so much for yesterdays comments. The lighting situation WAS very difficult. The only lights they had turned on were blue and red overhead spots and there were 3 orange spots on each side of the stage. The base of the stage was decorated with white "Christmas tree" lights and on top of all of that - they had a fog machine going strong. That is why the bottom of the photo (her legs) looks kinda misty.

Haven't even begun to process or edit any of the other routines. I decided to lounge in the sun and pool yesterday instead. Gotta get busy with them today.
JenniferD > May 26, 2009 Emily from her dance recital. This is from the ballet production number. The routine was based on and performed to Cirque Du Soliel music.

If anyone is interested here are some links (not great video quality -sorry about that) to the ballet. Emily is on the far right hand side of the stage as you are looking at the first video. She has on blue fishnet tights. In part two she is the first clown dancing on stage - coming from the right hand side.

I will more than likely be posting dance photos all week. I took 20 gig of photos during the two recitals. It will take me all week just to sort, process and edit them.
JenniferD > May 21, 2009 Emily's Ballet Portraits.

The ballet production number for Ems Spring Recital (this Sunday) is based on Cirque Du Soleil. Emily is one of about 4 clowns. I got to see the routine (performed by all of the ballet teams ranging in age from very early elementary through high school - about 50 girls) during the rehearsal Monday night. I really like it. It is very fun and quirky. I can't wait to see it done Sunday with the girls all in costume. Hopefully we will have a video to post early next week.

JenniferD > May 20, 2009. Another from the Dallas Arboretum
JenniferD > May 19, 2009 Another HDR try - this one from the Dallas Arboretum. I also used a midnight action on it that I use quite a bit. I love the soft dreamy feel of the action.

I think I am getting a little better at this HDR stuff - but still not anywhere near what I see from so many of you here.

Thanks for all your help on the photo of Emily yesterday. I played with it a bit more and I think I have it looking a little more natural.
JenniferD > May 18, 2009 Emily.

We went to the Dallas Arboretum yesterday. I have a photo assignment on portraits. I had to taken an outdoor photo using some type of framing. There are a few others I also have to do, but I am trying to take it one at a time. I like the framing, but for some reason Ems skin tone looks strange to me. Maybe it is her tan... Maybe it is just me - I am really hard on myself. What do you think?
JenniferD > May 17, 2009 Mr. Lincoln roses in my backyard.
JenniferD > May 16, 2009 "Be still, sad heart! and cease repining; Behind the clouds is the sun still shining."...... Longfellow.
JenniferD > May 14, 2009 - Rain drops on roses because I couldn't find any whiskers on kittens. ;)
JenniferD > May 13, 2009 - total desperation shot.
JenniferD > May 12, 2009 - My happy place.

This is Disney's Wilderness Lodge at the Walt Disney World resort. I took this photo during our stay there 2 years ago. I have learned so much in the past two years I decided to reopen the raw file in Lightroom and see what I could do with it now.

I picked this particular photo because in exactly one month - June 12th we are beginning our year drive to Florida and heading back to the Wilderness Lodge for 10 amazingly wonderful nights. I can't wait!

Laura - I hope you have a fantastically magical time - the best even when you are there in a few days. Take LOTS of photos. :)
